Developer Relations Manager – Forum Nokia EMEA/Nigeria-COR000000FJ
Forum Nokia and Developer Community (FNDC) is playing a leading role in shaping Nokia’s growth and transformation: it fosters a vibrant global ecosystem of developers and portfolio of relevant applications that are embedded in Nokia mobile solutions.
FNDC Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) seeks a Developer Relations Manager for its Middle East and Africa (MEA) Sales Unit (SU)/West Africa market based in Lagos. He/she will be responsible to drive
the developer ecosystem strategy and its implementation for the above market(s). The working model is highly collaborative involving building and leveraging internal networks, candidate’s own functional and sector expertise, and his/her strong external network. The candidate will be accountable for results and measured on both idea development and execution. The position reports to the Head of Developer Relations.
While the geographic scope is limited to West Africa, the scope of responsibilities as Developer Relations Manager for West Africa is end-to-end.
Main responsibilities include:
- Create the adequate strategy that generates a vibrant local developer ecosystem
The ideal candidate will gather data in order to understand the local ecosystem for the Ukraine LSU market. He/she will independently conduct various quantitative and qualitative analyses and leverage internal and external expertise to gather facts, and will communicate the findings to decision makers and stakeholders.
In this role, the candidate will act as a key point of interaction and influence between FNDC and the Local Sales Unit (LSU) in the given markets. He/she will actively question the status quo and the underlying assumptions of the business where appropriate and provide an outside-in view to develop and find opportunities to enhance business performance.
- Execute the local developer ecosystem strategy and engage the developer
The candidate will sell Nokia business value proposition to developers and will engage them on Nokia latest platforms.
He/she will identify and attract innovative developers for developing relevant applications in the given market. He/she will plan strategic developer meetings and events to communicate key initiatives and drive the adoption of relevant technologies.
He/she will also create and nurture relationships with local influencers such as developer associations, local authority investment entities, and VCs to advocate Nokia value proposition.
The candidate will also understand the commercial drivers of the LSU when engaging with developers and will be able to spot different business models and opportunities.
- Be the voice of the developer within Nokia
The candidate will support the developer end to end from signup to product release.
He/she will initiate and resolve communication with other FNDC departments (e.g. Technical Support and Consultancy, Global Marketing, Legal, etc.) on issues around improving developer processes and will participate in measurements that help the organization improve areas of performance with regards to developer processes.
He/she will also work with LSU management to establish new process and guidelines for developer engagement. He/she will provide input on the latest applications, services and trends that emerge from the ecosystem to be included in local marketing campaigns and device launches.
He/she will play a key role in driving developer applications to Ovi Store, identifying new business opportunities both for the developer and for Nokia, and proposing new distribution channels as appropriate.
Qualifications
· Commercial and/or technical university degree preferably with a master’s / MBA degree.
· A minimum of 8 years experience in business or market development roles with a focus on developers, content providers, or channel partners
· Strong business acumen and commercial awareness with the ability to spot different business models and opportunities when interacting with developers
· Demonstrated success in defining strategy, translating it into execution that made significant positive business impact.
· Proven ability to manage complex, multiple-stakeholder projects from definition all the way through to completion and implementation follow-up
· Demonstrated team player who can build credibility with business owners and drive initiatives in a highly collaborative manner
· Ability to perform under pressure
· Excellent communicator with both written and oral skills (English and local language(s)), comfortable in working with senior management and other personnel
· Ability to combine attention to detail and big picture when analyzing situation or data
· Ability to identify risks, find mitigation options, and address issues in a timely manner
· Willingness to accept accountability for results
· Outgoing personality and natural networker, with already established strong network in developer community in the given West Africa market
· High level understanding of mobile technology
· Influencing across matrix organization is a must
